Parent Resources

Parent Portal

The parent portal is a district resource that gives families resources in all content areas.  There are videos and podcasts to support learning.  It provides resources on how families can help their child(ren) from home.

Campus Tips:

ALWAYS, ALWAYS bring your Original Government Issued ID when you come into school. Pictures on phones and copies of any documents will no longer be allowed. We are video monitored by the Katy ISD Police Department to make sure we are checking identification for each and every person that enters the school to ensure the safety of your child and our staff. Therefore, we are unable to let you into the school without proper identification.

The doors open at 7:50a.m. and children are expected to be seated in their classroom by 8:10. Please note that children are not allowed to enter the building until the 7:50. bell, (unless they are signed up for a morning program).  Please allow your child enough time to walk into the building and get to class before the bell rings.  Please have your child ready to exit the car when you are in position to unload.

** If a child is late, please park and walk them in for a tardy slip.

Please be on time to pick up your child at 3:20 PM.

Change in Transportation

Cut-off time to make a transportation change is 2:40p.m. We are unable to accept changes of transportation by phone, therefore all changes must be in writing. Changes of transportation can be sent:

  • with your child in their daily folder,
  • hand delivered to the front office,
  • by email to WECOT@katyisd.org,
  • faxed to 281-644-1620 (copy of parent driver’s license is required for transportation changes sent by fax or email).

Please include the following information:

  • Child’s full name,
  • Date,
  • Teacher’s name,
  • bus number, car tag number, Walker
  • parent signature.

NOTE: Each family is assigned a car tag number.

Checking out your child from school.  Our schools are funded based on many factors, one important one being attendance.  It is always in the child’s best interest to be in school a full day, but we know that is not always possible.  If you need to check your child out for doctor’s appointment, dentist, etc. towards the end of the school day, it must be done before 2:40 p.m.  After that point it becomes more difficult to enter the campus due to the car rider line as well as having a hard time locating the child once they enter the dismissal areas of the school.

Food

Per Katy ISD Policy, we will no longer be accepting birthday treats (food, gift bags, birthday invitations, etc.) Teachers will recognize birthdays within the classroom.  You may wish to recognize your child’s birthday by purchasing a spot on the marquee or by signing up your child for the birthday book club.

Lunches must be dropped off at the front desk with students' name, grade level and teacher. Please make sure your child’s name is on all lunch boxes, water bottles and clothing. (These items will be donated at different times during the school year if not picked up.)

Lunchtime is a time to promote student independence and peer relationships.  Please try not to use this time as a special occasion, (such as a grandparent leaving after a weekend visit). This sometimes upsets the child, thus making it difficult for the teacher to get the student back on task for learning.  Additionally, we strongly encourage parents to limit their visits to the cafeteria.  We are very limited on seating and need to provide everyone an opportunity to eat with their child.

Weather

Please plan ahead for rainy/cold weather by sending jackets and umbrellas. If your child is a biker/walker and there is a chance of bad weather, our campus will send out a text or phone call to inform you we are having a rainy day dismissal. Your student will need to be picked up in the car rider line.

Home Access Center

The Home Access Center provides an online grade book where parents and guardians can view helpful student information to support and guide their children through the educational process. From home or work, at any time of the day or night, parents can access the Web portal to track academic achievement.  E-mail links are also available throughout the portal, so parents can communicate with the school and teachers.

Community Education

For the past 27 years, Katy ISD has operated a community education program that has grown to include almost 3000 participants per semester.  The purpose of Community Education is to provide the general public with learning opportunities. These opportunities include self-improvement, enrichment, recreation, and academic courses.  You are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to develop your interests, learn new skills and make new friends.  Visit Community Education for course information.
