Role of a Counselor

Welcome to Wolfe Elementary! Our school counselor is available to students, parents, and faculty/staff.

THE ROLE OF THE SCHOOL COUNSELOR

• Counsel individuals and small groups of students to meet identified needs.
• Deliver the guidance curriculum and assist teachers with the school's guidance curriculum.
• Consult with parents, teachers, and other staff regarding concerns about students' needs.
• Coordinate people and resources in the community for the benefit of students.
• Participate in planning, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive developmental guidance and counseling program to serve all students.
• Be familiar with and adhere to the ethical, legal, and professional standards of the counseling profession.

Qualifications of a School Counselor:

Master's degree and state certificate in school counseling

 Wolfe's Character Education Program: Character Strong - PurposeFull People

The goal of PurposeFull People is to teach elementary students the importance of strengthening one's own character in order to improve relationships, increase academic achievement, and overall improve the climate and culture of their schools.

• The PurposeFull People curriculum is comprised of 10 traits that focus on building character: respect, responsibility, cooperation, gratitude, creativity, empathy, kindness, perseverance, honesty, and courage.
• The PurposeFull People curriculum includes, but is not limited to, the following social-emotional learning (SEL) competencies: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision making.
